Background and Experience

The first professional role on my CV dates from 1995 and was in branch operations for the UK head office of an international bank in central London.

This is not where my education on the rewards and pitfalls of business started.  My ‘journey’ started much earlier that my twenties.

I have been exposed to the practicalities and challenges of running businesses for almost my entire life.

It is thanks to my parents, relatives and friends that I have this deep awareness and experience.  I have also sought out the most challenging and rewarding roles.

These are roles that I can learn from, be challenged, be tested, innovate and put as much energy into as possible.

This has led me to hold senior positions from a very early stage in my career and has allowed me to excel in different industries and progress through to director level roles.

Formal Education and Work Experience

I studied business studies and accountancy for my GCSEs and A-Levels, these classes did not provide the answers to my questions about business, though they did help me to build on the knowledge that I had gained through watching my father and our friends and relatives operate their businesses.

Being from a hard-working family with a tradional work ethic, I started to get involved with the family business from my early teens and pitched in throughout my studies and even continued to do so until my parents retired in 2008, even while being in full-time employment.

At one point in my late teens, I held 3 part-time jobs at the same time in 3 very different businesses.

After a brief stint, following my A-Levels, living overseas and completing military service, I returned to ther UK with a clearer vision of my future.  I simply wanted to gain as much experience as possible and learn as much about business as I could.

So far so good...
