PROFESSIONAL VALUES

The roles and contracts that I have chosen have normally been those that will offer me the greatest challenge and opportunity to continue to grow and develop my range of skills, while at the same time providing opportunities for me to make positive material contributions.

 

Anything less would represent a compromised on my professional and personal principles that would benefit none of the parties involved.

 

I am guided by a set of values that are a fundamental element of my character and my work.

 

These are a few of them.

 

Ethical Sales

Nothing can happen in business without sales and the income that they bring.

Without consistent sales and income a business cannot be truly viable or stable.


​With so many scandals around mis-selling, it is obvious that the only sustainable way to sell is honestly and ethically.

 

The best sales are the ones that work with us to help us to achieve the things that we need.  We hardly notice these, because they are so natural and effortless.  

 

This is the high level of competence  and skill that I promote and aim to deliver as an individual and as part of a larger team.

 

The sales training programmes that I have developed target the individual skills required to deliver sales results at the highest level from first contact through to pitching to executive boards and closing deals.

Proactive Management

Every day there are opportunities to make improvements to processes, results, capability and productivity.

 

Often, improvement in one of these areas leads to better results in another area.

 

My experiences and training have provided me with a set of skills that help me to identify areas for improvement and corresponding actions that will deliver improved results.

 

This is built on a natural disposition to take on and solve productivity or process bottle-necks and solve them, rather than continue to live with the limitations that they create.

 

This often paves the way to make further improvements through the improved efficiency that is created and additional resources that are now available.

Honesty and Transparency

I am an open book and expect the same from others.  

 

In a working environment, I simply do not beleive that it is possible to perform at the highest possible level if there are competing agendas within teams and between departments.

 

This may seem naive, but this enables me to work openly with others who share an appreciation for the benefits of this liberating approach.

 

The potential benefits to an orgainsation when skilled individuals can work together without holding back sometimes vital components, should not be underestimated.

 

The achievements that have been possible when these barriers have been removed have enabled some some of the most productive collaborations of my career. 

Positive Intent

When I start a role or a project, my aim is to always deliver as much as possible.  My concerns are for the absolute success of the project and the employer, rather than for myself.

 

I take the view that when I perform with 100% effort and poisitive intent, then the business benefits and my contribution will have real recognisable value.  

 

This approach has served me well and requires the right company culture and people to allow me to deliver to this extent.

Effective Leadership

Leadership can be challenging and easily lead the mistaken idea that the leader is the single most important member of an organisation.  I beleive this it be a potentially damaging assumption.

I have always lead by example and through the communication of clear, well developed business visions.

The view of leadership values that resonate most with me are accountability, responsibility, proactivity, productivity, humility,

I view leadership as being accountable for the productivity of all that the leader is responsible for.

The leader is responsible for as well as to all of those that they lead.  A leader needs to be constantly looking for opportunities to facilitate high performance from their personel.

 

Without proactivity where is the leader leading  to? Every business needs to be constantly moving forward or it risks being left behind by competitors andthe demands of the marketplace.

 

My vision of leadership is not about the status that leadership implies and the inevitable inclusion of ego, but about using the opportunity of leadership to cordinate personel and resources in order to accomplish larger wins for the organisation than it is possible as an individual.

Constant Improvement

Where proactive business and team management deliver constant improvements and results, the same philosophy is followed when it comes to my own personal development.

 

I have maintained a high level of inquisitive curiosity throughout my life and this has allowed me to identify and solve performance barriers in every role that I have held.  

 

In order to keep up with these challenges I constantly strive to improvement my knowledge and ability.  

I seek to understand and utilise as much of the knowledge that is available around me in the workplace and to match it with my expanding knowledge and ability that is constantly evolving through my own research and continuing personal and professional development. 

Work Ethic

Nothing in life is gifted to you.  You have to work for it.  Nobody owes me a living and I do not expect to get by based on delivering the required minimum target.

 

Working a 9-5 role for a limited set of targets has never appealed to me as it does not offer to scope to create something that I can be proud of.

I have grown up with countless examples and lessons of honest hard work delivering the best long-term results and have embraced this approach.  For me, it is about applying as much of of my knowledge and ability as possible to create the most fertile conditions and dekiver the best possible results. 

 

The standards that I set for myself and the goals that I strive for cannot be achieved without hard work and full commitment.

 

Nothing worthwhile can really happen without it.  

Results-Focussed

I am driven by the need to achieve real results.

Going through the motions is simply not enough to give me satisfaction from my work.

 

I will start with the result that needs to be achieved and then work through the steps that will make it happen.

 

Any resources that are needed can normally be found when the results are worthwhile.

 

I am very resourceful in my own right and can work around limitations in order to deliver the targeted potential result.

The Drive To Achieve As much As Possible

In any role or project, I seek to achieve as much as possible, even if that entails putting in extra hours or expanding the scope of the work.

 

If the work needs to be done, I have never shied away from it.

 

During the course of a role or a project, it often becomes apparent that there are opportunities to improve prcesses, profit margins, capability, revenue levels and trading conditions.  

 

Ultimately, these benefits translate into income and profit.

 

Ignoring these opportunities serves no one as they often manifest themselves as looming dangers or problems that prevent the business from performing at its best or areas of unexploited potential.

 

I have always embraced these opportunities and worked with others to bring about the best possible outcomes.
